Growing a better world together
In 2023, Rabobank celebrated its 125th anniversary as a cooperative bank. Since our foundation in 1898, we have been working together as a cooperative bank to create ever better solutions for everyone. The need to transform our economy and society into more sustainable ways of living and working has never been greater. We want to contribute to the transitions that are important to us and our stakeholders, now and in the future.
On this page we give an impression of the positive impact we try to make for our members, customers and the world around us. Our focus is on a future-proof food and energy system. With our knowledge, networks, products and services we help our customers to contribute to these transitions and work on our mission: growing a better world together.

125 Years of Working Together and We're Still Learning
We realize that we are not there yet. Big changes never happen overnight: we learn every day from all our customers and two million members, partners and everyone else who looks at it differently. We are grateful for that. Because we believe that only together can we achieve better and better solutions.
Creating Impact Together
The good results in 2023 enable us to do even more for society. In 2023, Rabobank has made 400 million euros available to help customers, members and employees transition to a more sustainable future.
€40 million is allocated for the bank's annual cooperative dividend, through which we contribute to social and societal contributions to the local energy and food transitions, including through Rabo ClubSupport and the Rabo Foundation. The remaining €360 million is allocated for five additional cooperative initiatives, each addressing different challenges and needs.

Chair Managing Board Stefaan Decraene: "Thanks to solid business performance, our cooperative can do more for our customers, members and employees. It enables us to develop additional and new cooperative products and initiatives that support them to accelerate the transition of the energy and food system, both in the Netherlands and globally.”

Better World
Making the way we live and do business more sustainable is the challenge of our time. We know change is needed and we want to contribute to that. To us that means we act on climate, value nature and enable people.
We use our financial solutions, knowledge and networks to help customers transition to a sustainable future and help move ‘the system’ in a sustainable direction. We focus on contributing to accelerate the food- and energy transitions. This is because everyone needs food and energy, and both the food as well as the energy system currently is not future-proof.
Our Contribution to a Better World
Energy Cooperatives
The energy system in the Netherlands is facing a gigantic transformation. In addition to the switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, the Dutch Climate Agreement also sets the ambition that 50% of renewable energy production in a region should be owned by the local community. Rabobank helps energy cooperatives in different ways. We have various ‘energy cooperative desks’ around the country. Furthermore, from our cooperative dividend we can make a development contribution for local energy projects.

Empowered Employees
We want our employees to realize results, add value for our customers, and contribute to our goals. That is only possible if we offer them the best environment for them to work, develop, and grow in: in short, if Rabobank is a great place to be. For us this means a safe and supporting place, where people feel valued and can reach their full potential. Creating such a place requires not only an effortless employee journey and clear roles and responsibilities, but also diverse and inclusive teams that work together.
